Healthy habits for an epic life!
For many year Isabelle Cornish was in homes in Australia on a nightly basis in her roles as Christy Clarke in Home and Away. She also held a role in Puberty Blues before moving to America and landing a dream role as Crystal in the Marvels comic series Inhumans.
Her lifestyle was fast and furious, her health took a beating, her mental health suffered before she realised she needed to make some drastic changes in her life. She needed to revisit her health needs and begin to heal if she was going to be able to lead a full and happy life.
As a young woman she faced many challenges, one being ADHD, not fitting into any norm of society, which caused much angst as a teenager; she rebelled and pushed many alternatives to the limit before discovering acting and a lifestyle that she felt was full of joy and promise.
In The Why she shares her journey into the pit of depression and what eventually saw her carving out a fresh, new healthy lifestyle that she now embraces. COVID helped her refine the journey she was already on. Her feeling of unease during the early months was something everyone felt, but how to cope was the trigger. Thinking big and thinking small, a simple technique to perspective, helped Isabelle motivate and find her way back on track.
Each of the chapters are filled with helpful tips and an excellent explanation as to how she arrived at this point; a perfect way of sharing personal information in a positive manner. Isabelle looks at Mindfulness, the importance of being aware of your though patterns and what to do about them, meditation and the benefits of learning to master this art, and so much more and that is only Part I.
Part 2 looks at your body and you; how you look at yourself, and importantly how to return to listening to what your body is trying to tell you, to understanding how easily it is to become disconnected from your physical form and fall into some truly awful situations. Surviving a serious eating disorder, she shares this personal aspect of her journey, the vulnerability that comes with it and the fact that it is a severe mental health issue that needs professional help to learn to overcome.
Part 3 looks at healthy eating and the importance that has on the body and good mental health as well as body image and by the time you have reached the final page, confronted some of the ‘truth bombs’ in each chapter and had many ‘light bulb’ moments, you will find much of what Isabelle Cornish has offered makes an excellent framework to begin a pathway to feeling good, understanding yourself and beginning to enjoy life once again.
The Why is a well written, occasionally confrontational journey in many ways. Written with love and genuine intent to reach out, Isabelle shares her many hard learned lessons knowing well, that her journey is somewhat similar to many others; young and not so young people who are struggling offering them a fresh pathway forward.
Her aim, ‘to inspire others to believe in their own power and find their true life purpose by listening to the wisdom of their mind, body and soul.’
