The Path to Inner Peace

Karma is a word often used without the full understanding of exactly what Karma is; in so many ways it has become a throw-away word used frequently in the western world, therefor to some degree it is also viewed with a good deal of scepticism by many.

Subhash Jain, via the fictional character of his student, sets out to explain the ‘karma doctrine’ as it is referred to in Eastern Religions. Over the course of the book he also builds a model, which is assumed to be free from inconsistencies, to better understand the natural laws of karma and establishes exactly what both types of karma consist of and their various consequences.

Slowly but thoroughly the Guru peels back the many layers of karma in such a way that it is relatively easy to understand how we attract additional karma, to that which we already have as newborns. He also explains karmic debt, how it is attracted and how life can be lived to free ourselves from karma by using free will, good versus evil and much more.

While the explanations can be somewhat complex they present options for thought, which is the purpose of the many analogies throughout the chapters. The philosophies discussed and presented are based on the ancient religion of Jainism which has been around for more than 2,500 years. This religion is based on the philosophy of living as nonviolent a life as possible and having as little negative impact on the way we live our lives.

For those who wish to study further the concept of Karma from both a personal and environmental perspective The Path To Inner Peace is an excellent choice of reading material.
