Author and Writer’s Mentor, Kez Wickham St George shares her latest insightsÂ
It has been another busy week, with four podcasts where I spoke on the subject of  “Cheerleading”. I have done a little editing to my next novel, yes, it’s another big book. And last but not least delightfully mentoring my creative clients. This week’s post was inspired by some time in my garden. Was it serendipity that spoke about the where, why, and how of Cheerleading? to be honest, it’s in my garden a lot of brilliant ideas pop up.  Here are just some of my thoughts.Â
Cheer Leaders embrace simplicity vulnerability, honesty plus empathy. This leads me to my garden where spring flowers show that it’s time to wake up and enjoy and thrive, they have braved the insects and storms over a wet cold winter. To display their beautiful faces to the world. Hidden is what goes on underground  the web of knowledge flowing from plant to plant that fascinates me, a deep richness of knowledge, a pattern of survival.
So here is my understanding of being a Cheerleader, there are no accolades, bells, or whistles. It has a much deeper meaning, Like the plants, they have a deep underground network, your Cheerleaders recognize your goals and your successes, and they acknowledge it has been built on your dreams. They quietly admire your hard work including your passion. Cheerleaders have a toolbox of survival skills that when necessary can lift you up, reminding you of your purpose.
So who is the cheerleader in your life?Â
it does not have to be a massive display of riot and colour, the bells and whistles, sequined spandex tights, and the oompah band.  Like the plants, in my garden, they may be the quiet ones, with a simple act of a hand on your shoulder perhaps gifting their time.  I feel it’s time we saw this quiet cheer team as something bigger than Benhur, for without my small team inspiring me, it would be a very somber life. So thank you to all who like and comment on my posts, thank you to those that buy, read and review my books, who invite me to be a co-author in books, contribute articles to magazines,  and podcasts, you are all my cheerleaders, you all allow me to speak through my written words.
