NO-ONE would argue that plants can poison and kill. So why is it so hard to accept they can also heal? Unless it’s prescribed, paid for over the counter and in pill form, then no-one wants to know – no matter how chronic their illness might be.
Meanwhile, medical statistics make grimmer reading year after year. Cancer is now the fourth biggest killer in Australia, according to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and, surprisingly is the fifth largest killer in the world[1].
If a person diagnosed with cancer was offered chemotherapy or frankincense essential oil, which do you think they’d choose? For that matter, which one would you choose?
Yet, although chemotherapy can be very effective, the success rate varies and in certain cancers can be as low as one per cent. Second round chemo can be far less effective still. A survey of 128 US cancer doctors found that if they contracted cancer, more than 80 per cent said they would not have chemotherapy[2].
That’s not to say not to have it, but there’s encouraging research that indicates essential oils could provide a natural, healthier and more effective additional option.
According to the University of Leicester in the UK, Frankincense has demonstrated the potential of treating ovarian cancer, more specifically late-stage ovarian cancer, and hopes to take its findings to clinical trial in the future[3].
Research from Oklahoma University in the US has specifically shown that frankincense essential oil has the ability to stop and destroy cancer cells in multiple types of human cancer. It has also indicated that sandalwood essential oil has also proven effective against cultured human bladder cancer cells[4].
But the healing benefits of frankincense don’t stop there: frankincense gum resins and essential oil have been used effectively for the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and other inflammatory diseases, such as Crohn’s Disease[4}.
In fact, most essential oils are multifunctioning with the ability to alleviate or heal multiple ailments, such as cholesterol issues, Alzheimer’s, Autism, ADHD, asthma, burns, gallstones – the list is endless. With literally hundreds of different therapeutic grade essential oils now available to the public, just think of the multitude of illnesses we could cure from our own homes.
In the fight against cancer, chemotherapy, surgery or radiation are no longer our only hope: frankincense and sandalwood can now potentially have a life-saving role to play.
