Celebrate Giving and Receiving

Send a meaningful gift to someone special this Christmas

Whatever spiritual view or religion we may follow, we all wish for happiness and meaning in our lives. We observe special days such as Christmas, to gather together with the people we care for, and make connections by exchanging gifts, love and gratitude or sharing a meal together.

What better way to mark the end of this year than giving a gift that creates positive imprints and social change?

Khachodling provides humanitarian services for Himalayan people in need who are living in remote locations. Their culture is becoming extinct. Modernisation affects these areas, and its remoteness and lack of services mean that it is increasingly difficult to maintain valuable ancient traditions.

Founded by Spiritual Teacher, Rinpoche Khandro-La whose family lineage is deeply respected in the Himalayas, Khachodling focuses on respecting these cultures. Due to Khandro-la’s long-revered association with these areas Khachodling is in a unique position to be able to provide respected and relevant services.

Here are some of the projects that donations to Khachodling can support

The ‘Five Elements’ community garden is under construction at Drukpa Gompa, Manali, Himachal Pradesh, India. The garden at Drukpa Gompa has long been a place of reverence and meditation for locals as well as interstate and international visitors. The five elements are fire, water, earth, wood and metal. These need to be in balance for health and harmony at individual, family, community and global level. The integration of these elements into the garden offers both a beautiful experience and a contemplative focus for practice.

Education of Children and Youth

Khachodling provides education grants to needy young people whose families, due to isolation and poverty, have been unable to provide them with good modern style education.

Himalayan Hermitages for Women

Khandro-la is responsible for her family lineage. She has a small hermitage already in Sani, Zanskar and in the future promises to manifest other hermitages for women in the areas of need, especially where her father taught.

Eye Restoration for Nomads

Since 2007 Khachodling provides an annual eye care camp for remote nomads at Lake Tsomoiriri, Ladakh. The focus is now on also training locals to act as “barefoot nurses”.Medical services projects include the  East-West Hospital at Mulbeck, Ladakh to provide much needed new premises for Khachodling’s amchi (traditional doctor) as well as general and specialist services for western medicine (pathology, x-ray and ultrasound as well as women’s, paediatric, eye and dental clinics).
